The Panama Canal

Around the world everybody knows Panama for its Canal. It is the must see for you when dropping by.

It's a magnificent work of engineering made by the United States but turned over to Panama in 1999. Since a few years the canal was widened with new locks to welcome even bigger boats.

The Panama Canal is part of the foundation of the nation. For many years the size of the canal was the basis for constructing boats worldwide.

Panama City and Canal Tour

  • Visits
  • We start with a walking tour of the historical center of Panama, the Casco Viejo.

We head to the Miraflores Locks to see the Canal. We see a movie about the history of the canal, the museum and the view point over the locks. The guide will try to match our visit with the passing of one of the boats.

We continue to the Amador Causeway. This road was built through the Bay of Panama with the debris of digging the canal and connects a few islands. Here the locals come to enjoy the view over the city and the fresh sea breeze.

We have lunch here and can see the boats waiting to enter through the canal.
